Chitosan functionalised nanopipettes

chitosan

The polysaccharide chitosan is the structural element in the exoskeleton of crustaceans (crabs, shrimp, etc.) and is known to form complexes with metal ions. In this paper, we show that a nanopipette functionalised with chitosan can reversibly bind metal ions, resulting in a reversible, real-time signal that is concentration dependent.
